Frontpage Setup Instructions

Note: If you are on a connection behind a firewall or ADSL router, you need to use Passsive Mode FTP to make it work through the firewall. Frontpage 98 & 2000 do not have this feature, and will NOT work behind a firewall.

Microsoft Frontpage 2000 is a WYSIWYG webpage editor which also includes an FTP client and other site management facilities.

The following tutorial will explain how to configure and use Microsoft Frontpage to upload files to your Quicksilver website.

Before your begin, make sure you have your Quicksilver webspace username and password.
You should also have enabled your webspace (if not already done). Skip this if you have Windows NT or Premium Linux hosting.

Open the Frontpage program (you need to have your website files saved and ready to publish)
Click on FILE > PUBLISH

The Publish Web dialog box will appear:

'Specify the location to publish your web to':
ftp://www-upload.quicksilver.net.nz/doc/

Note: For Windows NT or Premium Linux hosting this is: ftp://username.qsihost.co.nz

Click on Publish to continue.

A Name and Password Required dialog box will appear:

Enter your Quicksilver webspace user name and password into these fields.
These are usually, but not always, the same as your internet username and password.
Please note that your user name and password are case-sensitive, so make sure you are typing them in lower case.

Click on OK

Your files should now start uploading to the Quicksilver server. You will see a dialog box like this:

If there are already files on the web server, a message box may appear to ask you whether the files you are uploading should overwrite older versions of the files, or whether files that are on the server but not in your local web should be deleted. Click on Yes or No to answer these.

When your upload is complete you should see a box like this,:

indicating that the upload was successful.
